As the only bid for this once-celebrated and often subject of exciting and competitive live auction bid wars during conventions, I had the distinct honor of winning the PAC Eagle trophy last year. My winning bid was way off the mark of the thousands of dollars the trophy used to raise when the title companies vigorously competed for the annual bragging rights. Back in the day (before the pandemic), it was hyped up and it really was a fun way to support the efforts of the volunteer PAC committee members and VLTA’s mission to advocate legislatively for our industry in Virginia.
As the PAC Eagle trophy makes its way back to the auction floor this fall for VLTA’s 50th Anniversary celebration, I challenge all of you to have some fun! For the sake of the PAC fund and some good ol’ friendly competition, bid, bid, bid and win those bragging rights! Your support and contributions do matter, and I’m pretty sure you do not have to be present to take part in the Silent Auction (someone in-the-know will correct me if I’m wrong about that – lol).
To see and read more about the success of the PAC Eagle trophy’s inaugural year, please take a look at this archived article: 2017 PAC Heroes – VLTA Examiner Publication. Good memories.
I look forward to seeing you all at the beach in October for the big 50th Anniversary celebration and delivering the trophy to the winning bidder. To the VLTA executives, board and committee members and a host of other hard-working volunteers, thank you for all you do!

Kathi’s adventure in title insurance began in the mid ‘80’s when Bill Johnston* hired her as a Recorder for the title department at Real Title Company in the City of Fairfax. Over the years, with the help of many experienced title professionals, attorneys, mentors and friends, she leaned in and gained valuable knowledge and skill through her experience as a recorder, title abstractor/examiner, legal assistant in commercial settlements, licensed title agent and manager of a bank-owned title agency, legal assistant to Virginia State Underwriting Counsel for a national underwriter, business development/agency representative in Northern Virginia for national underwriters, and Northern Virginia Agency branch manager for national underwriters.
Kathi enjoys the people in the industry as well as assisting customers and Insureds who need help finding solutions. She feels blessed to have been introduced to the world of title insurance back in the ‘80’s and to have made many good friends along the way. Kathi is a supporter of the Virginia Land Title Association and has served on a several committees over the years: Education, New Members, PAC, and Editorial for The Examiner.
She attended Northern Virginia Community College, while working full-time, with her sights set on a Business Management degree.
