I’d like to offer a big Thank You and Warm Welcome to all who answered the “Invitation to Engage.” New faces on our Board, on our committees, and attending events for the first time makes me excited for the future of VLTA and all the expertise, contributions, and ideas that we as an organization have benefited from. “IT STARTS WITH YOU!” If you haven’t already, please join us.

There have been some real accomplishments this year at VLTA. We have raised our industry’s profile locally and nationally by representing our industry and our Commonwealth at ALTA’s Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC, where we took on unregulated insurance products and Attorney Opinion Letters in lieu of insurance.  We were a force at ALTA One in Coronado, CA where so many of our board and industry leaders were in attendance that everyone was aware Virginia was in the house! Our BOI Taskforce continues to meet with our regulators quarterly to discuss matters affecting our industry, trends in complaints, focus of investigations and any other topics we can think of. Likewise, our Clerk Association meetings continue to foster better working relationships between our industry and the Clerks who serve us. All these efforts are necessary to make sure our elected leaders and regulatory organizations are aware that we are a thriving and necessary component of home ownership.

It is not all work and no fun here at VLTA. The regional events have really blossomed to become can’t miss opportunities to gain education and mingle with other industry members. And then there’s convention. Not only are they fun to attend, but they’re also fun to plan. You get lots of education all in one place, you can meet title professionals from across the state, and there’s always something fun and entertaining at the event party.

There are so many opportunities to get involved at VLTA. There are so many committees that could use your insight and ideas. There are so many satisfying ways to become part of this enduring organization.

2024 is going to be another great year at VLTA! I sincerely want to thank my Board for all their help and guidance this past year. It has been a great experience. I also want to thank Leigh Hubbard and her staff for keeping us all on track. Lastly, don’t miss out on next year’s “BACK TO THE FUTURE” 50th Anniversary Convention at the beautiful Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Mark your calendars now for October 17th – 19th, 2024, because “where we’re going, we don’t need roads!”
