Katherine Crawford (533x800)Like so many VLTA Presidents before me, I find myself looking at the calendar and thinking, “WOW, where did the year go?”  During convention last June, I stood before you and thanked you for allowing me the opportunity to be your President.  It has been a rewarding and humbling experience.  We are blessed to have a group of smart and dedicated title professionals who freely give of their time and talents for the betterment of the association and it has been my honor to work with them on the Board of Directors.

We have accomplished a great deal in a short period of time.  Our membership numbers continue to be strong and our members continue to take advantage of our extensive educational offerings.  Over 5,400 continuing education credits have been awarded in the past year which is solid evidence we continue to be the premier educational provider in Virginia.  We received very positive feedback regarding our four regional events which were attended by over 400 title professionals throughout the state.

All this was possible because of the hard work and dedication of the Board of Directors and the volunteers on their committees.  It takes a village to run the machine the drives our association towards sustained success.  Again, I encourage each of you to lend your time and talents to the effort.  I would argue if you are reading this Newsletter, you have benefited from the work of the association so please consider joining a committee or volunteering at an event.

I have left the best for last…..the true Oz behind the curtain is our very own Executive Director, Katie Herndon.  Her dedication to the success of this association is unparalleled.  Her energy is boundless and the flow of ideas and innovation is ceaseless.  I am very grateful for her guidance this past year.  When you see her at convention in Richmond next week, be sure to give her a high-five and thank her for all she does to keep us moving in the right direction.

Again, thank you for allowing me to serve as your President.  I am excited to work with our incoming President, Sonia Kuppert, Vice President of STA Title & Escrow in Fredericksburg, and will continue to do all I can to keep the momentum going within our association.  I hope each of you will reach out to her and see what you can do to be a part of our continuing success.
