Thank you for joining us at the VLTA 2018 Annual Convention in Richmond, Virginia. We awarded over 1,000 CE credits to over 275 attendees at this year’s 50’s themed event. What did you enjoy most? The virtual scavenger hunt? The casino rocktails party? The sock hop? Or maybe one of our 10 education sessions?
Speakers
We enjoyed a fantastic 2 days of education from our 10 speakers. On Friday, Kevin Pogoda, our Keynote Speaker, presented on Bitcoin, Blockchain, and 2050. Thanks to Meredith Desharnais, we learned about 1031 tax exchanges. Pat Beall of ALTA presented our 2018 Legislative Update & State of the Industry, followed by John Micciche, who spoke on philosophical approaches to Western ethics. We closed out Friday’s sessions with Rob Reich, who presented a riveting session on advanced marketing.
On Saturday, we split into breakout sessions. Our settlement agents benefitted from Kay Creasman & Michael Holden’s session on State and Federal Settlement Laws, as well as Connie Fuksa Title Talk. Title Examiners heard about Bankruptcy from C. Jay Robbins, Riparian Rights from Jim Basgier, and Estates & Course of Descent from Rob Brooks.
Rooms were crowded and sessions were full – but we’re looking forward to booking more spacious and comfortable seating for education sessions next year.
Games & Prizes
This year’s event featured so many fun and exciting opportunities to network with colleagues and engage in industry advocacy. Our virtual scavenger hunt entertained over 70 guests, and awarded over $600 in prizes sponsored by First American, TitlePac, and Kaufman & Canoles. Congrats to Mary Long on winning the grand prize!
Our Casino Rocktails party, sponsored by Westcor, hosted over 125 guests at 9 casino tables and raised over $1400 for the VLTA PAC. Congrats to Marc Arrowood on winning our chip leader prize!
Special Thanks to our Sponsors & Exhibitors
Without the support of our sponsors, our events would not be possible. Special thanks to all who donated generously to VLTA this season. We really appreciate it!
Farewell to our Outgoing Board of Directors
Congratulations to our 2017-2018 Board on a tremendous job! We appreciate your service to our industry.
Save the Dates!
Be sure to save the date for the 2019 Convention, October 17-19 at the Hilton Norfolk: The Main. We plan to offer special sessions on up-to-date technologies and advanced underwriting practices.
