Did you know that YOU can help run the Virginia Land Title Association? In addition to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, VLTA has Five Committees that need YOUR help! Committee meetings are held monthly at vlta.tradewing.com. These Committees meet monthly to further the services and goals of VLTA. This year marks the FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VIRGINIA LAND TITLE ASSOCIATION! WOW! You have the opportunity to contribute to the future of VLTA. The Examiner Committee – Do you have a love for writing – join The Examiner Committee! Are you a good proofreader/editor – join The Examiner Committee!
The overall goal of the Examiner Committee is to develop and publish the quarterly Examiner Magazine. Committee members are responsible for securing, proofreading, and editing all content for the electronic magazine as well as serving as liaisons with other committees to ensure content is relevant and up to date.
This committee meets virtually on the second Wednesday of the month at 9:00 am.

The Education Committee – Do you have a love for education? Consider joining The Education Committee!
The VLTA Education Committee is responsible for securing educational content for VLTA events including webinars, Regional Events, Annual Convention, and online courses. The committee is responsible for the development and review of certification programs as well as oversight of the Title Insurance Pre-Licensing course.
This committee meets virtually on the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 am.
The Director of the Education Committee is Charley Gates of First American Title Insurance Company.
The Member Resources Committee – Do you have skills in communication? Then consider joining The Member Resources Committee!
The overall goal of the Member Resources Committee is to increase VLTA’s membership through member retention and outreach and to take the message of VLTA to its members and to the community at large using social media, press releases, advertising, and direct communications. Committee members engage the membership in the Association’s business and seek out ways to promote and benefit members.
This committee meets virtually on the second Tuesday of the month at 9:00 am.
The Director of the Member Resources Committee is Dale Shoop of VSTitle.
The Events Committee
The VLTA Events Committee is responsible for securing venues for Regional Events and the Annual Convention, as well as planning event activities including games and entertainment, staffing events with volunteers, and facilitating valuable networking opportunities for members.
The Director of the Events Committee is Stephanie Vermillion of Sandpiper Title & Settlements, LLC.
Legislative Affairs and Advocacy Committee/Political Action Committee
The overall goal of the Legislative Affairs & Advocacy Committee is to advance the mission of the Association through relationship development and legislative action while working with VLTA’s lobbyist in drafting and presenting legislation proposed by the membership. The committee is responsible for developing ongoing relationships with key partners such as the Bureau of Insurance, the Housing Commission, the Clerks of Court, and other agencies and associations. Committee members represent VLTA members’ interests to legislators, regulators, and other contacts.
PAC (Political Action Committee) plays a vital role in representing the legislative interests of your industry. Led by a committee consisting of volunteers and Board of Directors, the PAC committee identifies important individuals and organizations requiring support to benefit the industry.
The Director of the Legislative Affairs Committee is Matt Lindner of First Virginia Title & Escrow.

Becky Taylor
Becky Taylor began her employment with Titleworks Inc. on May 29, 1995 as a settlement processor and post closer. She quickly moved to take on more administrative responsibilities to become Vice President as well as keep an active role in the settlement process. She assumed the role of owner, CEO and President of Titleworks Inc. in 2006. She is a graduate of Clemson University, mother of a Washington & Lee University graduate, Virginia Notary Public, and as of February 2024 is now a grandmother and currently serves as President-Elect on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Land Title Association. In January 2024, Ms. Taylor and Titleworks Inc. merged with Cobalt Settlements, LLC and Attorney Jeff Nowak. Ms. Taylor is a Virginia Certified Title Settlement Agent (VCTSA),
a Virginia Certified Title Examiner (VCTE), and an ALTA National Title Professional (NTP). Ms. Taylor has been a licensed title agent since August 25, 1995 and has over thirty (30) years of experience in real estate settlements.
